""On a movie of this scope, you want someone who understands action and stunts and special effects, but that is secondary to someone who understands emotion and story" Giallian Bohrer explained. "Chris (Weitz) has made emotional movies, and he knows, on a technical level, how to work with effects, because he made The Golden Compass...Chris is a very focused, decisive, calm person who stepped into something with very little time. I never once heard him raise his voice. With everything being thrown at him, he just took it all in and figured it out.""Erik Feig and I both knew Chris Weitz had a comfort level with him," add Wyck Godfrey. "he's a writer and a director who understands character and has adapted literature, so remaining faithful to a book is just part of his genetic makeup. Secondly he could handle the siz of this movie and its visual effects demands, like he had done in The GoldenCompass"" - Mark Gotta Voz

He was a perfect choice as we all can tell by the snippets that have trickled from the top. The visuals and the characters stand out just as much as they do in the book. I for one am glad that he was chosen and agreed to do this movie. Could you have pictured anyone else directing this movie now? I can't. Bravo Chris, from what we have seen you have done a wonderful job of taking the world we have pictured in our minds and put it on film gracefully. *Standing O with a round of applause* - Silverbullet
