"The production demands of adapting New Moon were considerable. In the story, fresh prominence is given to Jacob Black, the young native Quileute who helps Bella start to ignore the emotional space left by Edward's absence, and who is also revealed as one of a pack of shape-shifting wolves. Bella is harassed by the vengeful vampires of Twilight, Laurent and Victoria, and ultimately journeys to Italy to save Edward and face the Volturi, the ancient society of vampires that govern the shadowy vampire world. During their separation, Bella hears Edward's voice in her head whenever she is in danger, but in the movie Edward manifests as a visual "apparition". All these plotlines and story points would require extensive computer graphics (CG) and digital visual effects work.....the guiding light for New Moon was to make everything as real as possible. "One of the most lauded aspects of Stephanie Meyer's books is their realism" Godfery noted. "You have vampires, but even then, they go to high school! So, to shoot New Moon like 300 (movie) wouldn't work for the audience who loves the books. We couldn't have done Italy on stage, we had to go to a real location to have that square that's described in the novel. A stage set wouldn't have given us that same sense of reality, or given the audience the feeling of being taken to a place they'd never been before." - Mark Gotta Vaz.

I believe that as well, when most movies are done, the one's that are shot on location suck you in more than something computerized. The more realistic the more you feel like you're there with these characters. When you watch this movie and you walk with Bella and Edward throught the woods and he tells her "goodbye" you almost want to reach out and smack him and say, "what the heck is you're problem you love her, she loves you, get over it!" When you see Bella's journey to the meadow and confront Laurent, you want to pull her with you and run the other way. Realism is GREAT!!! Realism makes you feel like you're a part of the movie, whether you're Bella, or you're watching it from right next to her or from the movie theater. - Silverbullet
